Playing around with 8.1

I finally got around to updating to 8.1
and had some time to play around with it yesterday!

I'm using my Ultimate Clean theme(updated for 8.1)
A patched ExplorerFrame to get an image background in Explorer
Mr.Grim's experimental Shell32.dll patcher
A custom 7tsp pack for icons and timedate.cpl
and a few other w7 apps that I always use.
I really like 8.1 so far,there is a lot of new setting
that seem to make it much smoother and more customize-able.
I will have to update my w8 themes to work better so
if anyone wants a particular theme done first just let me know.
They all work right now but some will need their title bars tweaked
and all need their taskbar icon right click menus fixed.

I am glad you finally updated to 8,1 and shared info about this here...
I was very skeptic about Win8 because my wife owns a laptop with Win8 pre-installed and it's all to buggy for me but it seems that the new update has a future after all.

I haven't played too much with Windows 8 but with the introduction of 8.1 I think it is worth another look especially if I can get my desktop to look like yours Greg! Well done dude!

Great news that you got 8.1 figured out I tried it and for some reason it did not like my computer very well lol

It took me 2 installs before it was good and even after that I was getting an old driver that won't load so I deleted it.
I found it was better to run sfc \scannow before updating and to do 2 restarts after running Windows Update for the first time.

Yes Jack 7tsp is working good so far.When I release the updated version of Gray8 it will have a 7tsp pack for icons,clock and media player!

Wait until you see the new features of the theme!
The msstyle for 8.1 can now change the Control Panel images,System Properties logo,Explorer background and more,
with no need to patch any system files,in fact for 8.1 you don't even need a patch for 3rd party themes.There is a simple regedit for it!
