All you have to do is look in your Windows/System32 folder for a DLL named imageres.dll. If it is there make a copy of it and send it to me and I will see if I can add new folder icons for you..

I will wait they said they will give you a year to get it free I just don't like the way it looks plus wont be able to use my themes.

Believe me John, this was a wild guess. I pulled this one out of the hat simply because it is my current folder that I am using.
I did not make these so I have to be clear. The folders are called 'Muro', and they are made by msergt over at DA. Please make sure that you use these ONLY for personal use unless you obtain his/her permission to use otherwise.

Not sure if I can get this file edited tonight or not, but will be back with your new imageres.dll shortly.

Here ya go bud.. Below are 2 attachments to consider.
One has the new folders only in the imageres.dll,
and the other has the same new folders but most of the blah, blah system icons are changed out as well.

Hopefully it is just a matter of manually changing/switching out the current imageres.dll with one of these modded ones.
Note that I do not have Win 10 running so I cannot test this on my end, so as usual, make sure you know how to recover from a failed startup just in case.
            1) Make a restore point and know how to run that from system boot if needed to get back up and running.

            Instructions:
            1) Locate "imageres.dll" in C:\Windows\System32 folder. Next you have to take ownership of the original file. (If not sure how to do this, see attached folder named "Add_Grant_Admin_Full_Control_Permissions". Next you re-name the original file. (Example, imageres.dll_original) Next you just copy the enclosed pre-made "imageres.dll" into the original System32 folder.
***IMPORTANT*** Make sure you keep a backup of the original file in case something goes wrong, or if you want to revert back to the original resources.

            2) VERY IMPORTANT. After you have changed the file, you need to clear your icon cache. Also attached is a .bat file named Rebuild_Icon_Cache. After you run the .bat file you will be asked to re-start and you should..

            3) To remove these files just rename the ready made files to something different like "deleteme". Rename the original file with it's original name and make sure the original file is in the original folder location. Reboot or log off. At any time now you can delete the modded file after reboot. Done...
            Attached Files

i gave it a try, allwas goin well untill pasting the new file, it just never showed in the list. So i rebooted to see and all folder icons vanished leaving just the text name below. I then rename the original dll back to normal and original folder images came back.
No matter how many times i tried to drop the new dll into 32 folder just would not show in the list and there was no error saying it did not paste in?

I have your hard work saved, and i thank you soo much for your time you have given me and i will keep you posted on anything that comes up on new info that might help to do this Jack bud

When you put the ready made file into the 32 folder, are you sure you FIRST took ownership of the original, AND then temporarily renamed the original, before you added the new file in the 32 folder??? Then rebuilt the icon cache and rebooted???

thinking there might be an issue else where, as in if i change a wallpaper or move any rainmeter items i end up having to reinstall nvidia drivers after any shut down. This on its own is givin me a headache and thinking on a roll back to 7 for this one reason, and its a pity as i realy like this 10.

but even if that sorts it out, still going to have the graphics problem with NVidia..... I will leave things as they are maybe for a week, and see if either a fix comes from NVidia or windows and then do the file change again, if not, then I will roll back to 7 until an installer for folder changer comes out ;)

Okai, I to have that, but havent started to mess with 10 on my lappy yet, hehe, so donno if you need to actually, and i think i am gonna wait for some stable patchers and programs first, seems like that can solve the problem here also, if its a program or a command that make the change and rebuild the icon-cash or what its called :P But i have never messed with icons and stuff, so this is your area Jack :)

              #25
ok, back on windows 7, and will wait untill theming is much easier and more to chose from. since being back on 7 my graphics has been 100% and not rolling back on older versions after any reboots etc. and have all my windows updates done including the windows 10 icon for upgrade lol.
Thank you all for your help on this, and i will redo these folder skins at a later date, thank you Jack ;)

True Remie bud, i also heard sli in nvidia with the latest battlefield game windows 10 are having problems. Still, it is a great shame that this little problem for me is holding me back from w10, but, a little more time and it will be fine. The main thing is I did get to use the w10 in full glory and i did like it, so at the end of the day i still got w10 to look forward to, when its ready for me ;)

Thanks Jack bud, I am not going to add anything else to the screen as it will become overkill, i am happy enough with the layout and the toys on the screen. I will do the folders you did for me in a couple of weeks as i want to see how Nvidia behave for the mean time.

I will sometime soon take a photo of my desktop and post it here.
I just finished editing colours in the rainmeter gadgets on the right side of the screen shot to blue text.
