  • Microsoft urges recent Patch Tuesday updates be uninstalled

Microsoft quietly recommended users uninstall the most recent security updates after reports began to surface that these updates were causing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death.

According to the PCWorld report, Microsoft said that it discovered issues relating to four individual updates associated with the August Update: 2982791, 2970228, 2975719, and 297533. The updates addressed security and features, and began rolling out on August 2.

Microsoft updated its security bulletin MS14-045 on Friday to warn users of issues associated with the updates. “Microsoft is investigating behavior associated with the installation of this update, and will update this bulletin when more information becomes available,” the company wrote. “Microsoft recommends that customers uninstall this update. As an added precaution, Microsoft has removed the download links to the 2982791 security update.”

MS14-045 applies to Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1, plus Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003.

Microsoft provides detailed steps to apply a fix - but you'll need to put in a little work within the registry file to complete it.

MS is advising customers to remove 4 updates from August’s Patch Tuesday

I did remove the ones that I had. I removed one at a time then removed the next--when I had them all removed , I then restarted. When I got back into windows I checked windows update and there was an update to install but not one that was removed. Then today I got an auto update for Windows Update Agent?? I recommend that this be done. MS will not re-release them until they are fixed.

I found this in My email and wentr to WU to install it. It is causing some issues for some users. I installed it and made sure that Windows Module was running and set to manual. I have no problems but if you look at the link below many did:

I did and had no problems then after a reboot there was another update. If you Don't do anything my guess is that it will be fixed on Sept. 9th.. The next patch Tuesday.
